Honolulu International Airport, 2013-Present

Honolulu International Airport is conducting an on-going maintenance project to mill and fill three inch wearing courses. The majority of the new construction is located on the taxi-ways and parking locations for various aircraft and airlines at the airport. Due to the heavy weight of the air-crafts, rutting and shifting of the pavement occurs quite rapidly and asphalt pavement replacement is needed.

Hawaii Department of Transportation decided to implement FORTA-FI® HMA fibers into these continuous maintenance projects for stronger pavement and sustainability. To date, great results are being reported and the Hawaii DOT is continuing to replace their conventional asphalt with FORTAfied asphalt!

Project Details:
Location: Honolulu, HI
Owner: Hawaii DOT
Engineer: Hawaii DOT
Producer: Grace Pacific L.L.C.
Contractor: Grace Pacific L.L.C.
Tonnage: 12,000
